NSF funds hybrid solar cell project

The National Science Foundation has awarded $299,600 to University of Pennsylvania's Cherie Kagan to study the interplay of organic and inorganic materials in hybrid solar cells.

The Engineering Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials for the Conversion of Solar Energy project is aimed at developing organic semiconductor materials that work well with inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals, nanorods, and nanowires to form high-performance solar cells that can be made inexpensively using liquid processes.
