DOE rounds out small biofuel refinery funding

The Department of Energy has named the final two of nine small-scale biorefineries to receive federal funding, awarding Flamebeau River Biofuels of Park Falls, Wisconsin and Verenium Biofuels Corporation of Jennings, Louisiana up to $40 million over five years.

The program will provide the biorefineries with up to $240 million over the next five years to develop processes for converting wood scraps, agricultural wastes and other non-food feedstocks into liquid fuels like ethanol.
